Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
who greatly delights in his commandments!
Who or what you fear controls you; therefore it is essential that you fear the right thing, or the right person. Psalm 112:1 gives a clear example of this foundational principle by equating the fear of the Lord with greatly delighting in his commandments. Jerry Bridges in his book, The Joy of Fearing God, explains it this way: "Morality does not qualify as biblical obedience unless it springs from the fear of God--a reverential awe of who He is and what He has done for us." It is important for us to understand what fearing the Lord means and how it should impact our lives to the glory and honor of God as we continue to be transformed more and more into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Come join us on January 21, 2017, as we open God's Word together to study and discuss the Fear of the Lord!
